Overview

The SPEC COM burner from Preferred is a versatile, high-performance solution built for demanding industrial applications, including field-erected boilers, heaters, and thermal oxidizers. Its rugged design ensures long-term reliability in extreme environments, making it ideal for operations in varying climates.

A key feature is its ability to handle a broad range of fuels, from traditional options like natural gas and propane to alternatives such as hydrogen and low-BTU gases. This fuel flexibility makes it especially useful for industries exploring renewable energy sources.

Designed for low NOx emissions, the SPEC COM can achieve levels as low as 20 ppm with Flue Gas Recirculation (FGR), meeting strict environmental standards without sacrificing efficiency. With no moving parts in its core design, it minimizes maintenance and maximizes operational uptime, supported by Preferred's expert customer service.

This burner is an ideal choice for both new installations and retrofits, delivering reliable, efficient combustion with low emissions.

Features

Made in the USA: Preferred's SPEC COM burners are engineered and fabricated in the USA, supporting local industry, and boosting the economy.

Low NOx Emissions: Capable of achieving NOx levels as low as 22 ppm or less with FGR, meeting stringent environmental standards without requiring additional emissions treatment equipment.

Multi-Fuel Capability: Designed for flexibility, these burners can operate on multiple fuel types, including natural gas, light oil, heavy oil, renewable biofuels, hydrogen, biogas, digester gas, refinery gas, and syngas, making them adaptable to a wide range of applications.

High Turndown Ratios: Offering a turndown ratio of up to 10:1 on NG and 8:1 on oil, the SPEC COM burner allows for better flame control and fuel efficiency, even at lower firing rates.

Fuel Train Piping Design: Natural gas trains can be mounted on the burner/windbox or supplied on a piping rack, designed to comply with B31.1 (power piping code) or B31.3 (process piping code) and built per NFPA 85 standards. We offer fuel trains suited for hazardous area requirements suited for, class 1, Division 1 & 2, Groups C & D.

Combustion Air Fan: Available with windbox-mounted or remote floor-mounted forced draft fans, featuring TEFC premium efficiency motors and silencers to meet the 85 dBA industry noise standard.

FGR Compatibility: The SPEC COM burner can be designed with or without Flue Gas Recirculation (FGR) to help achieve low NOx emissions while maintaining combustion stability and efficiency.

Energy Efficiency: Optimized for minimal excess oxygen levels (1.5% to 3% O2), these burners enhance combustion efficiency, providing fuel savings and reduced operating costs.

Compact Design: The space-efficient design of the burner allows for easy installation and integration with existing systems, making it ideal for retrofits and tight plant environments.

Advanced Control Systems: Fully compatible with Preferred’s BurnerMate Universal (BMU) and other advanced control systems, providing precise management of fuel and air, monitoring, and control for up to three different fuel configurations. Available with parallel positioning or fully metered control, as well as PLC BMS/CCS control panels.

Submittal Package: Complete engineering submittals, including 3D drawings and STEP files, are provided within 8 to 10 weeks, ensuring smooth integration into new or retrofit projects.

Finishing: The burners feature a special powder-coated finish both inside and outside for enhanced durability.

Sizing: Available in sizes ranging from 5.0 MMBTU/hr to 285 MMBTU/hr or greater, depending on the application requirements.

Fuels: Designed for use with NG and light fuel oil. Other fuels are available such as hydrogen, biogas, digester gas, low BTU fuels, ethanol, yellow grease, ULSD, HFO, #6 oil, Renewable Fuel Oil (RFO), and more.

NOx Emissions: Capable of achieving sub-30 ppm NOx emissions with FGR, operating at 25% to 100% MCR at 3% O2.
