Renewable Fuel Oil
Produced by ENSYN Technologies from waste wood in a process called "pyrolysis," Renewable Fuel Oil (RFO) is an 85% carbon neutral renewable fuel.
Renewable Fuel Oil (RFO) is a pyrolysis oil derived from wood or woodbased feedstock. Ensyn is currently the only commercial producer.
There are several challenges to consider when burning RFO:
1) With a PH of 2.5, the fuel has a similar corrosion property to that of lemon juice and requires that the wetted components be made of stainless steel or brass construction.
2) The ash content can be troublesome for plugging strainers or nozzle passages and can lead to particulate emissions.
Preferred Utilities developed a state-of-the art combustion system to successfully burn RFO.
