D4A Nuisance Leak Alarms
FILED UNDER: D4A Fuel Sentry TG, Pump SetSymptom
With a D4A mounted in a panel with FSC, nuisance leak alarms are occuring even if there isn't necessarily an HD-A2-C installed.
Steps to Troubleshoot
The cause of the above symptom is the motor start contact pulling in. This causes a large in-rush current which effects the 120VAC line voltage to the D4A. To confirm, start and stop the pump motor manually multiple times at a quick pace. An errant leak alarm should occur.
Resolution
Put a 96059 RC snubber directly across the contactor coil. This should be physically tied into the coil terminals and not remotely mounted.
